What it is
Riverside is a browser recording studio for conversations — podcasts, interviews, webinars. Each participant is recorded locally on their machine, then the files upload to Riverside. After the session you get a transcript-first editor, clip tools, and optional hosting or live-stream extras. It is a record-and-cut product, not a motion-graphics NLE.
Who it’s for
Podcasters and YouTube interviewers who book remote guests and want separate tracks instead of a compressed call recording. Creators who want talking-head video plus short clips from the same session. Less useful if you already record in a room you control and finish in Premiere, Final Cut, or another editor you like.
Standout details
- Vendor site: local recording, separate audio/video tracks per person, up to 4K video and uncompressed / 48 kHz audio on paid seats, “unaffected by internet connection.” Free plan is 720p with a watermark.
- Free plan also lists a small one-off multi-track hour cap and unlimited single-track recording. Paid plans add 4K, no watermark, more separate-track download hours, hosting, and live/webinar features. Names and caps move — re-check the pricing page.
- Editor: cut by editing the transcript, or use the timeline. AI helpers include filler/silence cleanup, Magic Clips, and show notes. You can also upload a file and get per-speaker tracks.
- Publish/host to YouTube, Spotify, and Apple from the same product. Convenient, and more lock-in if you later leave.
- Some AI extras (translation, B-roll, animated clips) use a credit pool on current plans. Core clip/cleanup tools are listed separately. Do not assume every AI button is unlimited.
Honest verdict
